The legal basis, by virtue of which the Individual Investor Programme of the Republic of Malta is brought into existence, is Legal Notice 47 of 2014. The enabling law, under which these regulations are enacted, is the Maltese Citizenship Act, Chapter 188 of the Laws of Malta.
The Individual Investor Programme aims at attracting highly talented and distinguished individuals with an internationally established network, by offering them the possibility of sharing the Maltese and European experience.
This programme allows the granting of Citizenship based on a certificate of naturalisation to foreign individuals and their families, who contribute to the economic development of Malta. It is subject to stringent vetting and thorough due diligence checks, ensuring that only the deserving and genuine high net-worth individuals get selected to join the exclusive and limited pool of Maltese Citizens.
This citizenship by investment programme is the only one being approved by the European Union after successfully surpassing the European Commission’s tight scrutiny. At present, this is being regarded as one of the most successful citizenship-by-investment programmes.
